What air filter should I buy?

I’m often asked “what is the best return air filter to use”??  Keep in mind, return air filters are to protect the HVAC equipment!!!

Air filters have a standard rating. This rating, minimum efficiency reporting value (MERV), is a number from 1-16. You don’t have to know all the technical stuff. Simply put, as the number goes up the filter will stop more and smaller particles.

If you decide to change your air filter to a higher MERV value, make sure your HVAC system has sufficient air flow.  If you are replacing the filter at your furnace, please give Greenway a call and see if we can replace your return vents with a filter grill return.  That old saying “out of sight out of mind”, probably means you are not replacing your filter often enough, possibly causing damage to your HVAC unit.
